About Your Orthotist - Pamela McGeachan
My passion is to provide the best orthotic care possible, where you feel valued and listened to.
In 2012 I began working at Nottingham University Hospitals where I gained insightful experience into biomechanics and treating complex foot and ankle conditions.
To further my experience I relocated to London in 2014 to take up an orthotic role within the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in London where I developed a keen interest in treating spinal conditions and designing orthoses for foot and ankle weaknesses and deformities. I also worked extensively with patient’s living with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome.
After a brief spell of working in the Orthotic department in Southend – on – Sea, I decided to move back to my home town of East Kilbride and start Mac Orthotics.
Within this time I took on a part time position in the NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde orthotics department which is renowned for its evidence based orthotic service. Here I expanded her knowledge in the design and production of CAD CAM insoles and enhanced my technical workshop skills.
Mac Orthotics was formed in 2016 to provide top quality orthotic care throughout the UK.
I travelled extensively up and down the country, providing orthotic clinical cover and gaining more in-depth knowledge of the orthotic industry. I have worked in locations from Inverness, Aberdeen, Carlisle, working all the way down to Kent. I have enjoyed covering children’s orthotic clinics in Essex both clinical and school based and expanded my knowledge in diabetic orthotic care at the prestigious Kings College Hospital in London. I sat on the BAPO conference committee from 2017 - 2018, which allowed me to have an input into the planning of the annual British Association of Prosthetics and Orthotics Conference.
In my spare time I love spending time with my family - me and my partner enjoy being outdoors with our little boy who loves it as much as we do!
I has been fortunate enough to work with and collaborate with some of the best orthotists and orthotic technicians in the country, my passion is to use the skills learned to provide the best orthotic care possible in a genuine and timely manner, exceeding expectations and allowing you to be all you can be.
My client’s wellbeing and satisfaction is at the heart of everything I do. We know it can be an unsettling time experiencing pain and living with life changing conditions - it is my mission to support you through this time and seek out, design and deliver the most innovative and high quality products to meet your needs.
Feel free to contact me for an informal chat about how I can help.
Thank you for visiting my site - I studied Prosthetics and Orthotics for four years at the University of Strathclyde. Having completed my Orthotic clinical placement in the Scandinavian Orthopaedic Laboratories in Sweden, I decided I would practice Orthotics full time as it is a very interesting and rewarding career.
Upon graduating I was awarded with the OETT funding award and travelled to India to present my thesis on the Use of Stance Control Knee Ankle Foot Orthoses, an area which I have particular interest in, at the international Society of Orthotics and Prosthetics Conference.
